Nepo Laulala, a prop for the Blues, will play in his 100th Super Rugby match this weekend when his team, the Blues, take on the Highlanders in the season opener of the DHL Super Rugby Pacific 2023 on February 25 at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Highlanders vs Blues Head to Head

Last year, the Highlanders had trouble keeping up, as they fell 35 points shy of the Blues in the Super Rugby Pacific standings.

The Highlanders finished just 13 points above Moana Pasifika at the bottom of the table with only four victories in 14 attempts.

If the Highlanders are to catch up to those ahead of them this season, they have a lot of work to do.

Although having hosted the match, they enter this one as the underdogs and have their work cut out for them if they want to win.

Despite the Blues’ outstanding performance in 2022, the Crusaders defeated them in the season’s final game to deny them the Super Rugby championship.

The Blues had previously dominated the regular season, winning 13 of their 14 games and taking first place with a six-point advantage.

After victories against the Highlanders and Brumbies in the knockout stages, they faced the Crusaders, who they lost to 21-7.

The Blues will feel they have something to show this year as they attempt to advance further than they did the year before, despite their excellent regular-season performance.

They will be hoping to defeat the Highlanders in this match in order to start winning the title in 2023.
