Six Nations Rugby: Ireland must do to secure in 2024.

Ireland was defeated by England in a thrilling match at Twickenham, missing the opportunity to win the 2024 Six Nations Rugby with one round remaining.

Steve Borthwick’s team won 23–22 at home thanks to a drop goal from Marcus Smith with the clock in the red, setting off raucous celebrations.

Although Ireland’s chances of being the first country to win a Grand Slam twice were dashed by defeat, which meant the 2024 championship would come down to the last day, Andy Farrell’s team is still clear favorites.

Marcus Smith’s last-minute drop goal at Twickenham gave England a 23–22 victory against Ireland, opening the Six Nations on Saturday.

England’s impressive performance shocked Ireland, but they regained enough poise to come within a few seconds of winning back-to-back crowns.

With the clock turning red, England, losing 22–20, launched one last drive and drove it to the Irish try-line, where it was awarded successive penalty advantages. Smith would have had a penalty kick to win the game if the play had broken down. Rather, he won it with a drop goal that he scored from inside the 22.

Ciaran Frawley and Calvin Nash are expected to be fit for the Scotland match.

Assistant coach Simon Easterby says that Ireland’s Ciaran Frawley and Calvin Nash should play against Scotland on Saturday in the Six Nations championship game.

Tuesday’s practice saw Munster wing Nash, who was forced off the field inside five minutes of the 23-22 round-four loss to England due to a head injury, work out with Andy Farrell’s team.

Flexible Leinster rear At Twickenham, Frawley replaced Nash, but he left with a similar injury 10 minutes into the second half. It is understood that he is receiving treatment from his province.
