Hong Kong Sevens 2024: schedule, draw, tickets, players to watch

The three-day HSBC SVNS rugby Hong Kong Sevens spectacular this year is anticipated to be the final one held in Hong Kong Stadium until it relocates to Kai Tak Sports Park in 2025. On Friday, the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens will begin with games beginning at 10.30 am.

The world’s top 12 men’s and women’s teams will compete in the much awaited 2024 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens on Friday, hoping to become the final victors of the event’s history at Hong Kong Stadium.

From a location that is synonymous with sevens, both Hong Kong teams will try to end their journey by winning the first-ever Melrose Claymores titles.

Here is all the information you need to prepare for three days of world-class partying mixed with elite sports.

Draw for Hong Kong Sevens 2024

Men’s competition

Pool A: France, Fiji, Australia, Canada.

Pool B: Great Britain, Argentina, USA, New Zealand.

Pool C: Ireland, Spain, Samoa, South Africa.

Melrose Claymores: China, Japan, Hong Kong.

Women’s competition

Pool A: New Zealand, France, Brazil, Great Britain.

Pool B: Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Fiji.

Pool C: USA, Canada, Japan, Spain.

Melrose Claymores: China, Hong Kong, Thailand.

Hong Kong Sevens schedule

Prepare yourself for a demanding three days. The event will begin on Friday at 10.30 a.m. with the women’s match between Canada and Japan. The heavyweight men’s team from Australia and France will play the final match of the day at 8.56 p.m.

On the first day, Hong Kong’s men and women play China at 6.22 and 7.24 p.m., respectively. At 3:58 p.m., the men’s world series leaders, Argentina, take face the reigning Hong Kong champions, New Zealand, in a highly anticipated match.

On Friday, the gates open at 7.30 a.m. The stadium opens for entry on Saturday at 7 a.m., with a 9.30 a.m. start time. On Sunday, gates open at 8 a.m., with the first game starting at 9.40 a.m.
