Highlanders 21-27 Brumbies at Dunedin Super Rugby Pacific Round – 4

Super Rugby Pacific Highlanders vs ACT Brumbies Rugby Union fixture Round – 4 at Forsyth Barr Stadium on March 15, 2024. After a close game in Dunedin the Highlanders lost their second game of the season to the Brumbies 21–27.

Super Rugby Pacific match taking place inside Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium. It’s a little strange to see these two teams tied for sixth and seventh place in the competition points table with a 2-1 record, considering their divergent fortunes in recent seasons.

Fresh after their victory over the champion Crusaders, the Highlanders have grinded out victories over Moana Pasifika and NSW Waratahs without many of the players dispersed among the other NZ hub clubs.

The starting lineup for this week is significantly changed as Cameron Millar has taken Patchell’s spot at first base.

Although the Brumbies have always been the greatest Australian team, their loss against the Chiefs in week two has already caused them to fall behind early in the season.

Highlanders vs Brumbies match result

Sam Gilbert’s late penalty gives the Highlanders a bonus point, but the Brumbies win 27–21 in Dunedin, a well-deserved triumph. With that incredible touchdown, Brumbies winger Corey Toole once again stole the show as he pursues a Wallabies debut.

Now at 3-1, the Brumbies are positioned third in the Super Rugby Pacific standings. After the Force game, we had a good look at ourselves,” Ryan Lonergan, the captain of the Brumbies, stated on Stan Sport.

Even though we clearly prevailed, we weren’t satisfied with our physicality or our collapse. We were still a touch slack in that regard, I believe, even throughout the first 20 minutes of our visit. After that, we turned on the switch, began to build muscle in that area, and then began to play a little football.
