The Chiefs vs Crusaders Super Rugby Pacific 2024 season will begin with three away games before moving home to play a local derby.
On Friday, 23 February in FMG Waikato, our guys will play the Chiefs in the opening round once more, setting up a thrilling rematch of the Grand Final.
On Saturday, March 2, we’re heading to Melbourne to play the Waratahs in the Super Round. I’m glad to see that derby return to New Zealand, since we played the Highlanders there in 2023. Then, on Saturday, March 9, we go off to Fiji to play the Drua in Round 3.

Following the announcement of the 2024 season draw on Wednesday, the two fiercest rivals were confirmed to be playing a rematch of this year’s final on Friday, February 23, at FMG Stadium Waikato.

This is also Rob Penney’s debut game as the Crusaders‘ coach after he formally succeeded All Blacks coach-elect Scott Robertson at the beginning of August.
Penney will also have two chances to play against the Waratahs, the squad he coached from 2019 to 2021 before being fired. That’s in round two in Melbourne and round eight in Sydney.
However, that will come after the season opener, in which the Chiefs will undoubtedly be eager to win back after the red and blacks defeated them 25–20 in the big dance in June.

Australia will be able to stream the match either on 9Now or through Stan Sport.
9Now is free for all Australians, whilst Stan Sport usually requires a subscription, though Stan is currently offering a special seven day free trial for rugby fans especially for the final.
In New Zealand, the match can be streamed on Sky Sports streaming platform Sky Sport NOW, which also requires viewers to have a paid subscription to Sky Sport.
