Joey Carbery has been recalled to Ireland’s squad for Saturday’s Six Nations clash against Italy in Rome, Joey Carbery is back in Ireland’s squad ahead of the trip to Italy.

Munster fly-half Carbery has been drafted in as additional cover for Johnny Sexton, who is recovering from a leg injury sustained in Ireland’s 32-19 win against France in Dublin nine days ago.

The 27-year-old was overlooked for Ireland’s initial Six Nations squad, with Leinster’s Ross Byrne preferred as a back-up No 10 in their opening two victories.

Ireland recall at Joey Carbery after Six Nations Italy game

Joey Carbery has been recalled by Ireland as cover for captain Johnny Sexton ahead of Saturday’s Six Nations match clash against Italy in Rome, the Irish Rugby Football Union said on Monday.

Sexton is unsure to play after a leg harm suffered in the 32-19 win over France on February eleven.

Carbery, who has 37 caps, was a wonder omission from the squad for Ireland’s beginning two Six Nations suits, in which they also beat Wales in Cardiff.
