After an incredible career that included two Lions trips, 209 Scarlets appearances, and 96 caps for Wales, he retires. He also played with Clermont Auvergne for two years in France. The 36-year-old decided to make the move a few months after finishing the previous season without a contract with the Scarlets.

“I have enjoyed a break and a summer at home with my family and been lucky enough to spend quality time with my newborn son, alongside my wife, as we embark on this new chapter together as parents,” he stated.

Davies did acknowledge that he will unavoidably miss working out and competing with colleagues.

“In these past few months, have been able to assess all of my options and reflect on a career of which am really incredibly proud of,” Davies stated.

Many people were praised by Davies, including his devoted and devoted followers, excellent teammates, encouraging coaches, staff, friends, and most importantly, his family and everyone who has supported him.

“I am so grateful for the support, especially when faced with the challenges and setbacks of injuries, it’s been an incredible ride,” he said.

Having played rugby professionally for eighteen years, Davies said he feels fortunate to have been able to reach his full potential as a player.

After he made his decision, a flood of compliments came in from both opponents and former teammates, like as Mike Phillips. George North called his career “incredible,” and All Blacks Anton Lienert-Brown called him “one heck of a player.”

“Was a pleasure sharing the pitch with and against you my man, class,” stated Simon Zebo of Ireland, as former England flanker James Haskell celebrated his incredible career.

Among those congratulating Davies were France’s Mathieu Bastareaud and Australia’s Matt Giteau.

After just becoming a parent for the first time, the Wales star had been hoping for one more chance to play, but he has now made the decision to hang up his boots and spend more time with his growing family.
